Children who are more anxious may need oral medication that is stronger than nitrous oxide. Your child may be quite drowsy, but they will not become unconscious. The dentist will administer the appropriate medication that can be used for conscious sedation. They will prescribe the medication best suited for your child’s overall health and dental treatment recommendations.
We will be happy to answer any questions you might have concerning the specific drugs we plan to give to your child. Before a visit in which your child is to receive oral sedation, you will receive instructions about eating and drinking, what to expect, and what to watch for after treatment. Your dentist will also discuss how your child will be monitored while he or she is sedated
